After a weekend of friends and football, I am so looking forward to some meals at home this week (and dreaming about this Mid-Century Modern kitchen). Our first official tailgate was a huge success and we are so grateful to have friends and family who love the Illini just as much as we do. Lincoln was even able to join in the festivities, and I can honestly say he was the most popular guy in the entire lot! We can’t wait to do it all again for the Homecoming game, where the temperatures will be even a bit cooler.
This week we will be purchasing all of our meat from a local meat and deli shop. I have been so disappointed in the meat from our local grocery store, so I asked my co-workers if they had any recommendations. You would not believe my excitement when they told me that Old Time Meat and Deli sources most of their meet from local, Amish farms. Praise hands were thrown. I have no problem spending a little extra money on food when I know that it’s high quality and locally raised!
I’m keeping this week pretty simple in order to offset the outrageous eating we did this weekend. I’m not even sure I can qualify a meal plan this week, so I’m just going to link a few of the recipes that I’m making. All three of these are winners, and two of them are from my favorite food blogger, Gimme Some Oven.
Now, about my kitchen crush… After watching Mad Men I became obsessed with mid-century modern interior design. If Jordan and I could move straight into Don and Megan’s Penthouse I would be a very happy lady. When I saw this kitchen while browsing through Houzz I nearly lost my mind. I so want to host a dinner party here!
Obviously, I would have to add a a gas range. And I’m not totally sure I could own those green cabinets. But there is just something about this kitchen that makes me feel really hospitable. Maybe it’s my inner Megan Draper? Hope you all have a happy week with lots of yummy food.
