During the month of March we read and incredible book by Lara Casey titled, Make it Happen. When I selected this book there was obviously a hope that reading it would inspire many of us to do greater things, but I was in no way prepared for the radical movement it would stir within my soul. Before I go any further I want to encourage each of you to purchase a copy of Make it Happen: Surrender Your Fear. Take the Leap. Live On Purpose because it is going to be The June Twenty Book Club book for the month of April as well. Make it Happen was truly incredible enough to be read twice.
I was struck by how open and vulnerable Lara was about the experiences that have shaped her into the woman she is today. Her willingness to share the dark times was honestly refreshing, as it is so easy for us to assume that Instagram life is 100% true, 100% of the time. While it isn’t necessary to share all of our dark moments with the social world, it is important to remember that everyone experiences challenging times. Give grace.
But even more moving than Lara’s many life experiences, was how she made the decision to take the lessons she learned and use them for good in her life. She sought out the desires and gifts God had given her and then she used them. She took HUGE leaps of faith and didn’t let comfort get in the way (something I am really struggling with right now). And through it all, she was striving to glorify the name of King Jesus.
This time through I am going to read a little slower, and keep a pen with me at all times. If you’re going to join me this month I really encourage you to take your time and be intentional with this book. It’s a gold mine.
